Cabins, mountain homes and land in Teller County
I've photographed 16 properties in Divide.
Divide sits between Woodland Park and Cripple Creek at around 9,000 feet. Most of what I shoot here is cabins and homes on wooded lots, plus raw land in the subdivisions off the highway.
Lots here are often deep in aspen and pine. A drone shot is usually the only way to show the house, the land and the view together, so I plan nearly every Divide shoot around the aerials.

Shooting in Divide
- Every home I've photographed in Divide has been in uncontrolled (Class G) airspace, so the drone flies without FAA authorization. I still check for temporary flight restrictions, like wildfire closures, on the day of the shoot.
- Long dirt driveways are common. Put the gate code and any access notes on the order. My photographer and I both drive four-wheel drive and carry chains, so snow and steep dirt roads don't stop a shoot.
- Snow lingers in the trees here well into spring. Clear the driveway and the path to the front door before the shoot if you can.
